History

Carlton Sports Network (Pvt) Ltd was enlisted as an organization on 10 February 2011. Its four executives were S. K. Dissanayaka (matured 22), A. R. Fernando (matured 23), S. Karunajeewa and Rohan Welivita. The enrolled location of the organization - 260/12 Torrington Avenue, Colombo 5 - had been utilized by President Rajapaksa amid the 2004 parliamentary decision. Welivita is a Presidential Adviser on Electronic Media and is hitched to Anoma Welivita, the PA to Shiranthi Rajapaksa. The CEO of CSN was Nishantha Ranatunga, the secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the controlling body for cricket in Sri Lanka.

Dinesh Jayawardana was selected a chief on 1 March 2011. Welivita stopped being a chief on 6 March 2011.

CSN was issued a permit to telecast on 3 March 2011. CSN began television on 7 March 2011, assuming control over the physical frequencies and pay TV stations involved by Prime TV Sri Lanka, a station worked by the state-possessed Independent Television Network. The dispatch was praised by an extraordinary occasion held at the Atrium, Cinnamon Grand Hotel which was gone to by Yoshitha Rajapaksa, Shiranthi Rajapaksa and Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

From its creation, it had been hypothesized that CSN was possessed by President Rajapaksa's family yet those connected with the station denied this. In June 2012 Sri Lanka Cricket conceded that CSN was claimed by President Rajapaksa's children Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Namal Rajapaksa.
